The Senate Approves Bill for the Establishment of a College of Agriculture in Ubiaja, Esan South-East of Edo State.
The Senate in Plenary on 13th December, 2022 passed the Bill to Establish a Federal College of Agriculture, Ubiaja.
This comes after the Senate organised a public hearing on the Bill. Information gleened from the public hearing, suggested that the stakeholders who attended the public hearing to give their opinions on the Bill, seemed to have given their consensus approval to it.
During the 3rd Reading of the Bill, the Senate gave their unanimous vote for the Bill to be passed.
The next stage is to await the President's assent of this Bill to enable it become an Act of the National Assembly.
The Sponsor of the Bill, Senator Engr. Clifford A. Ordia expressed joy over the passage of the Bill and thanked his constituents for giving him the opportunity to serve the Senatorial District.
" I am glad to announce to the good people of Edo Central Senatorial District that the Bill for the Establishment of a College of Agriculture, Ubiaja has been passed by the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
"I am optimistic that President Muhammadu Buhari will give His Assent to this Bill for it to become an Act of the National Assembly.
"The expected benefits of this college are enormous:
1. It will provide opportunities for our youths to be trained and get involved in research and academic activities;
2. It will contribute to knowledge that will guarantee food security;
3. It will provide employment opportunities for our youths to either work as Lecturers or administrative staff;
4. The host community will benefit indirectly from the economic activities that will be generated when the college come into full operation.
I want to use this medium to appreciate my constituents, for this opportunity to serve the Senatorial District."
This is good news for the people of Ubiaja, Esan South-East LGA of Edo Sate.
This is a welcomed development, we are solidly behind the senator to bring more development to the indigenous people of Esanland.
