As at the time of writing this article.
I overheard some Esan guys discussing their dissatisfied amazement to what the Onojie has done in Ekpoma, rumours has it that the Onojie was paid several million naira by a Stranger to become an Onojie in the area and thereby obtain enough power to influence decisions at the grassroots levels and more, and to also mobilize Fulanis, Hausas and Arabs by this kind of business transaction; the Hausa man was coronated with the chieftaincy title as I heard, with several plots of land allocated for cattle ranching and breeding.
The indigenes of Esanland, Elders and market women has frown at this occurrence.
If this information is true, I think the region needs EIA to ascertain the level of threat. We cannot pretend that we don't know the happenings in the country, Nigeria. Especially news about clashes between farmers, fulanis, Hausas and the rest of them.
We the Esan men and women are known as agrarians by nature, we value our crops, farmlands and forests because that's the source of our economy in the past and even now in the present.
An average Esan man is a farmer and an average Esan woman is a trader/farmer.
How the crisis or arguments often begins is that, cows and sheeps eat farmers crops and destroy the vegetables and vegetations, this always annoys the farmers who then overreact with anger and bitterness, attacking verbally, physically, fighting off the Fulanis to the death,
The effects of this crisis is killings, abductions, raping and all manners of taboo.
The traditional and cultural heritage of the people is threatened and at risk.
Don't play with Fulanis in the bushes, (Esanliites) do not know that the cattle rearers have deadly weapons and charms. They go everywhere with the weapons, one of the most common weapons is
"The Dagger" (Sharp venom poisoned 🔪 knife). They use that for a quick kill and clean up.
This conflicts of cattle rearing is still a major crisis ongoin, as a matter of fact, it is one of our fundamental problem, there is a silent genocide and massacre going on in our farmlands, forests and territories, there is a threat of boundaries breach, unknown men and women are infiltrating through our backyards - the forests and water ways. We are not secured, we should not be carried away with negligence and play politics with our dear lives.
We should be able to build a remote sensing device and surveillance in strategic locations. We can reinforce our vigilantes and civil defence mechanism to further secure our perimeter.
There is a plan by the fulanis to raid and claim territories in any part of Nigeria, this is how they keep spreading and conquering territories, they have already dominanted and claim rulership slot in the northern Nigeria. they are much in the north central, they are noticeable in West of Nigeria and few in the South. Check emap, you will observe the infiltration. It is left for us to reinforce our guerrilla method of security and be properly guided doing business with strangers.
Do not sell your land away, you lose your land, your loose your reward and rights.
